After glimpsing the ineffable interior of the soul-scape an artist may wonder,
“How could I possibly draw this?”
Inside each of us is a unique cosmos filled with intelligent design. Forms, beings, landscapes, architecture, and much more reside in these personal realms and each of these internal mysteries are uniquely different with underlying threads of commonality.
Luckily for us, some of these threads within our souls’ designs are also woven through the fabric of the observable universe. A universe that just so happens to encompass our daily earthly existence.
In this class using graphite oriented tools, we will learn practical techniques that enable us to be capable of drawing anything from life, photo reference, and imagination. A wide range of topics will be covered, such as linear perspective, the human figure, architecture, natural landscapes, automatic drawing and so much more.
Each class will be composed of 2 phases:
1) 30-minute-long phase including a group meditation and a short inspiration presentation.
2) Two hours of class time.
*Class will be held live via Zoom, so every participant's questions curiosity and inquiry help shape the class's flow and direction. Q&A can happen organically throughout the class.

- At least one 2mm Lead Holder (TK 9400 from Fabercastell is perfect)
- 2mm 2B Lead Holder Refills
- 2mm 2H Lead Holder Refills
- .5 mm mechanical pencil
- .5 mm refills (HB, B or 2B)
- Staedtler Mars Rotary Lead Sharpener
- 9000 Jumbo 8B Pencil
- Any extra graphite pencils of your choice
- Exacto blade or sharp box cutter for sharpening pencils
- Graphite Powder
- Artist's Chamois Cloth
- A sketchbook/sketchpad of your choice
- Wooden Drawing Board
- 2 Bulldog Clips
- A nice quality piece of paper, 200 or more gsm (White Stonehenge 250 gsm is perfect)
* The paper size and quality is up to you. Ultimately all of what is taught in the class can simply be done on regular computer paper or in any sketchbook of your choice. What I like to do is get a sketch pad with easily removable paper that is about 18x24" with a weight of 80gsm and clip a few sheets of it to a wood board that is on an easel. In my experience the bigger the paper you can manage to set up, the better for learning and practicing new skills.
** The high quality paper is for our final piece, which will combine most of the techniques we cover and be worked on for our final 2 classes.
